I believe I have read before that anytime that RY has a dividend yield of over 3% then it is a buy. Now, I am not saying that one should base their investment decisions based solely on this alone, but it is interesting to think about nonetheless. RY is a very widely help stock in Canada - many baby boomers will be receiving a lot of the dividend income from their portfolio from RY which I think speaks to the steadiness of its returns over the years. Anyway, thanks for your analysis of RY.

Thanks for the analysis. One thing I consider would be the strength of US dollar vs Canada dollar, Warren Buffett been telling us how bearish looking of USD since 98. I thinking invest in Canada banks would be a real good investment with built in hedging of weakness (of USD). But with RY still trading at high 40s to low 50s there is not much discount though, The current financial sector crisis hopefully would give us the chance to get in if RY goes to low 40s.

- Long term holder of RY
